Planned Parenthood's Doctors and "Experts"

Here are some of the crazy quotes given by Planned Parenthood "experts". <-- You will see why I put "experts" in quotes. Wait until you see the crazy things these people say!!!

• Dr. Van Oppen(who performs abortions on women in South Dakota) states that in HIS PERSONAL VIEW one isn't a "human being" until the child is "weaned" from his or her mother, often at about the post-natal age of TWO YEARS, but only if the child's parents consider him or her a human being and welcom the child into the family of human beings.

• Dr. Scott Moses (one of Planned Parenthood's "experts") claims there is no human being following live birth until he clamps the umbilical cord. Dr. Moses states that after he delivers a child, he or she is not a human being while the baby is entirely out of the mother's body and he is holding the baby and even during the time the mother is holding her baby. He claims that "status" as human being "transfers" when he clamps the cord, but before he cuts the cord.

• Dr. Lee Silver (another one of Planned Parenthood's "experts") originally expressed the view that there is no human being until the unborn child obtains sentinence(sometime around 30 weeks gestation).
• Dr. Lee Silver admits that this original OPINION of his, "was wrong"!!!

• Planned Parenthood's "expert" Dr. Lee Silver, although offered as an "expert" to explain the meaning of the term "human being", admitted that he's "not sure how to define any word."

Dr. Carol Ball-(Medical Director of Planned Parenthood)

• Dr. Ball incorrectly assumed that it was conclusively established twenty years ago that abortion does not place a woman at risk for physchological harm, and for that reason has NOT read the literature and scores of peer reviewed journals that have produced evidence of such harm over the past 10 to 15 years.
• Dr. Ball believes there was literature published twenty years ago that conclusively established that there is no such thing as Post Abortion Stress Disorder, and she has NOT read the literature since.
• Dr. Ball has not read any of the expert reports and declerations in this case, and does not know their contents.

Planned Parenthood Hurts Women and Children

Comments are taken from "Statements of material fact" in the court case which involves HB116 (informed concent), which puts Planned Parenthood vs. Rounds/Long/Alpha Center/Black Hills Pregnancy Center.

• Planned Parenthood admits that they have NEVER done an emergency abortion at its Sioux Falls facility and they have NEVER done an abortion because of a serious risk to the health of the pregnant mother.

• The doctor has a duty to both the pregnant mother AND the unborn child. He has a duty to inform the mother of the adverse consequences of a procedure on her unborn child. Planned Parenthood breaches its duty to the pregnant mother.

• Planned Parenthood provides NO services that help a woman keep her relationship with her child, they only involve themselves in terminating that relationship.

• Dr. McCreary and Dr. Van Oppen(who both perform abortions in South Dakota) have pecuniary(financial) interests that are in conflict with the rights of the pregnant mother, such that if the women decides to keep her child, Dr. McCreary or Dr. Van Oppen do not get paid.

• Intervenors obtained a document that Planned Parenthood disseminates entitled "Choosing Abortion." On the fourth page of the pamphlet a box containing a bold "warning." It states, in part:

"Hundreds of so-called "crisis pregnancy centers" scare women about abortion. They lie about medical and emotional effects of abortion."

(SO WE HAVE PLANNED PARENTHOOD, WHO ADMITTEDLY "DOES NOT HELP WOMEN KEEP THEIR BABIES", GIVING INFORMATION TO DISCOURAGE WOMEN TO VISIT CENTERS THAT WOULD HELP THEM KEEP THEIR BABIES)-Very Interesting!!

Planned Parenthood's Abortion Selling Methods

Facts on receving an abortion by Planned Parenthood.

• Person who answers the phone first time schedules a surgery without the pregnant mother ever seeing or speaking to a physician.

• Planned Parenthood's telephone intake procedure does NOT distiguish between women who call who want to discuss what is involved in abortion, and which callers think they want abortions. All who want to come into the facility have abortions scheduled for them.

• They volunteer NO counseling and assume the pregnant mother has already made her decision to have an abortion by the time she arrives at the clinic.

• They take signed consent form from women and have the mother pay before she sees the patient educator or doctor.

• They have the pregnant woman submit to an abortion even if she is openly weeping in the session with the "patient "educator".

• There is never established any true doctor-patient relationship.

• Planned Parenthood does not know what percent of the no shows requested the fetal development information, and Planned Parenthood has never checked that data in an effort to determine if the fetal development information influenced the women not to keep the appointments.

• Planned Parenthood has the pregnant mother sign the consent form BEFORE she gets to ask any questions.

• The pregnant women considering a surgical abortion is REQUIRED by Planned Parenthood to sign Consent Form 601 and pay for the abortion BEFORE she sees a "patient educator."

• Their consent form (Form 601), is in actuality only an acknowledgment that she had the telephone script read to her over the phone.

• The "patient educator" does NOT volunteer any information in this session other than how the procedure is done unless the "patient educator" is asked a specific question.

• Planned Parenthood, its doctors and staff assume the women made her decision to have an abortion by the time she arrives at the clinic. (Again, this is before she meets with a "patient educator".)

• According to Planned Parenthood staff: It is common for women to cry (as many as 25% of the women cry) in these "patient education" sessions, and sometimes the women weep openly and "bawl." Planned Parenthood performs the abortions THAT DAY anyway.

The Abortion Procedure

• The doctor who performs the abortion does NOT volunteer any information to the woman and does NOT discuss the status of the unborn child, not even simple facts about fetal development.

• The doctor spends about 5 to 10 minutes with the pregnant woman, most of which, by far, is the time required to perform the abortion. (deposition of Dr. McCreary and Dr. Ball)

• There is never a true doctor-patient relationship between the woman and the doctor because:

1. The surgery is scheduled without anyone consulting the doctor.
2. The consent is taken without counseling or the doctor ever seeing the patient.
3. The woman pays for the abortion BEFORE she sees a counselor or physician.
4. The physician does NOT see the patient before OR AFTER the abortion is done.
5. The physician does NOT voluntarily counsel the woman.
6. The physician does NOT do ANY follow-up and typically and doctor only sees the woman for five to ten minutes in the woman's entire life.

Planned Parenthood's "Patient Educators"

The information contained in this post is from items taken out of the "statement of material fact" for the case of Planned Parenthood vs. Rounds/Larry Long/Alpha Center/Black Hills Crisis Pregnancy Center.

Many statements to follow were quoted as coming from deposition testimony.

• Planned Parenthood has five employees who act as "patient educators" who counsel pregnant mothers considering an abortion at its Sioux Falls Clinic. NONE of the five "patient educators" at Planned Parenthood's Sioux Falls clinic are licensed counselors.

• Planned Parenthood provides no counseling certification program for the Sioux Falls facility, and offers no training program for the South Dakota "counselors" or "educators".

• The only training in counseling that Planned Parenthood's Sioux Falls patient educators recieve, is for the educator "trainee" to sit in on some current "patient education" sessions to observe what hte educator say and do.

• Planned Parenthood admits that its counselors-only recently called "patient educators"-are NOT competant to counsel mothers about the unborn child, or even simple facts about fetal development

KATE LOOBY

• Despite the fact that Kate Looby is the State Director who serves as a "patient educator," and she hires and "trains" other "patient educators," Ms. Looby is:

1. NOT a licensed counselor.
2. NOT trained to recognize (or treat) mental illness.
3. NOT trained to recognize symptoms of depression.
4. NOT trained to recognize risk factors for depression.
5. NOT trained to recognize whether a woman is at risk of suicide ideation.

• Kate Looby admits that she knows nothing about molecular biology, human embryology and human genetics. Even though she admits she knows nothing about these topics, she is one of the Planned Parenthood personnel who decides what written material should be given to the women who come into the Sioux Falls clinic.

• State Director Looby does not know, one way or the other, whether a pregnant mother considering an abortion at the Planned Parenthood facility in Sioux Falls knows any more about human genetics, human embryology or molecular biology than Ms. Looby herself knows.

• Ms. Looby doesn't even possess a rudimentary knowledge of fetal development, as witnessed by the fact that she does not even know at what age a human embryo first has a beating heart.

• Kate Looby has no education or backround in medicine or nursing, her only eduction and her experience was in business administration, real estate development, political policy and development.

• Ms. Looby admitted that she read NONE of the 1,940 affidavits submitted by women who had abortions, which were submitted to the Task Force to study abortion.

• Planned Parenthood's own expert, Dr. Maria Bell testified that Ms. Looby demonstrated in her deposition that she was ignorant about very basic information abou the unborn child/fetus/embryo.

• Kate Looby claimed she did know one thing about human genetics-That was human beings have only 13 pairs of chromosomes.

**Just for the record, the correct answer is actually 23 pairs!!**

(Yet, she is "training" the other "patient educators" at Planned Parenthood?)

Andrea

• Has NO training of any kind in the the field of medicine, nursing, psychiatry or psychology.
• Knows NOTHING about fetal development, does not discuss fetal development with the pregnant women she "counsels" and would not even attempt to answer a question about fetal development, if asked.
• If a question arises to which she does not know the answer, she asks Kate Looby(Who admittedly knows nothing about molecular biology, human embryology, and human genetics.)

Kylene

• Kylene knows nothing of substance about fetal development, and does NOT attempt to provide information about fetal development.

Jamie

• Jamie knows nothing about fetal development and does not attempt to answer any questions about fetal development with pregnant women at the clinic.

Pam

• Pam did not take any courses in human embryology, and although she has looked at "bits and pieces" of some embryology literature, she does NOT understand the terminology of "THOSE LONG WORDS" and cannot repeat them. :)
• Pam does not know anything about human genetics or molecular biology.
• Pam does not know what is actually present in a physiological way, in an embryo at the age of seven weeks post-conception.
• Pam admits she has no idea what pregnant women who come there know, if anything, about what is inside them, about the embryo or fetus.

Truth about Informed Consent

Right now Planned Parenthood is suing the state of South Dakota over HB1166, also known as "informed consent". Basically this law requires an abortionist to tell the woman that the procedure is going to end the life of a whole, separate, unique, living human being.

In suing the state of South Dakota, Planned Parenthood has shown their true colors by taking the side of the abortionists and NOT the woman. There were documents entered into public record this past session and I was able to pick up a copy of some of those documents. One document in particular is a 71 page document which is part of a "statement of material fact".

I am going to post multiple parts of this document on separate posts. So you can learn the truth about Planned Parenthood and what the pro-abortion advocates really think when it comes to the issue of abortion.
